Count the Memories not the Calories.
Poppyseed Goods is hosting a year-round celebration, and all are invited! Enjoy thoughtfully prepared recipes, baked goods and fresh ideas for any occasion. Whether you are celebrating a holiday, one of life’s grandest milestones or a week filled with simple pleasures, each day is a gift, and what we cook, eat, drink and share should be an expression of creativity, joy and appreciation.
As a former lifestyle magazine editor and decorative book author, stories of cooking and entertaining have often crossed my desk over the past 25 years. I have great respect for the many chefs, restaurant owners, party-planners and decorators whose stories I have told. Now, I am having fun applying those experiences at home and documenting my progress on Poppyseed Goods.
Spending time in the kitchen with my daughter, Catherine, who was home for several weeks during the pandemic, reminded me to find good cheer and energy in little things, such as the meals we prepare – not just for formal events – but for ourselves and others every day. She is a college athlete who is passionate about nutrition and a foodie at heart with two popular food accounts on Instagram.
I especially love baked goods and, as a Mississippi Master Gardener, colorful, garden-inspired dishes. I believe in eating reasonable amounts of the real thing and avoiding processed foods. Alongside my favorite recipes, Catherine’s original creations in the kitchen plus menu items from some of our friends will be showcased on Poppyseed Goods.
Pour a glass of lavender-peach tea and join us in our Southern kitchen. Your source for fresh ingredients may be culinary herbs from a windowsill, your vegetable garden, organic produce from the grocery aisles, or the week’s bounty from your favorite farmers’ markets. No matter the origin, delight in variety and celebrate often.
